Aging on the Buddhist Path: An experiential workshop

From the moment we are born, we are also aging. As we enter the later decades of our life, aging takes on a weight it didn’t carry previously. Our understanding of impermanence becomes deeply personal. Different questions arise: we may begin to wonder if we’ve done enough; if we can at hide the physical manifestations of aging; and wonder if the moments we lived were truly meaningful.

In this one-day workshop, we will explore together how the Buddhist teachings, both contemporary and ancient, can benefit us throughout these last stages of life. The workshop will include teachings, discussions in small and large groups and guided meditations.

Please join our facilitators Karunika Beth Patterson and Lama Karma Chötso on this journey of self-exploration in a safe place to contemplate and express the myriad emotions and experiences that arise as we age, including grief, sadness and fear or acceptance and joy. Together we will search for true appreciation for the extraordinary experience of living a human life and the depth of wisdom we’ve gained from that life.

This workshop is open to all members of Nalandabodhi. Please register no later than April 23. Donations to the One Heart Mandala Fund are gratefully accepted. Please contact Beth Patterson at bethpatt@mac.com with any questions.
